Pavilion Dance presents
White Caps
A Champloo performance
Saturday 25th February
8pm
Following recent sell-out successes, White Caps is coming to Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth's national dance house.
White Caps represents the first major live work by Wilkie Branson. Showcasing his signature cinematic style, seamlessly blended with Champloo’s unique Hip-hop choreographic work, it presents an epic tale of brotherhood that takes audiences out of the confines of the theatre and into the wilderness.
The show’s award-winning film depicts two young men travelling through a rich backdrop of forests, valleys and mountains as they struggle to find their way in the world. As they journey, live performance acts as a counterpoint to the film, drawing the audience deeper into the experiences and challenges that eventually forge an enduring bond between the two men.
Using bboying-based dance to tell this tale, Champloo’s choreography confounds expectation, using a wide range of moods and styles. Set to an eclectic original score composed by an all-star ensemble of Bristol artists and musicians, White Caps takes bboying to places it has never been before, and takes the audience all the way, too.
